Cleverdist is a Swiss industrial AI company built by engineers who’ve spent their careers inside complex control systems. We work at the IT/OT frontier, combining deep research with real industrial delivery.

Today, our focus is Industrial Operator: an AI system built to reason about industrial operations the way experienced engineers do. We continue to serve the industrial customers and critical systems that shaped everything we know.

Our team’s foundation is in large-scale SCADA and WinCC OA projects — environments where architecture choices echo for decades and reliability isn’t negotiable. That discipline still runs through everything we build.

From CERN to Industry

Before Cleverdist existed, our founding team spent over a decade at CERN — designing, building, and operating control systems for some of the most complex experiments ever constructed. That environment forged more than technical skills: it built a research-driven instinct for solving problems that don’t have obvious solutions.

In 2015, we brought that mindset into industry. It’s what allows us to take on the projects others find too complex, too critical, or too unconventional.

Turning Expertise Into Products

As projects grew, patterns emerged. SmartNodes++ was born from a simple conviction: industrial control engineering needed structure, ontology, and reusable intelligence baked in from day one. What started as an internal framework became a product that transformed how complex SCADA systems are built.

Today, SmartNodes Anywhere extends that approach beyond WinCC OA — and provides the ontological foundation that Industrial Operator thinks on top of.

AI Changes Everything

When generative AI reached a useful level in 2023, we already had the structured engineering, the ontology, and the operational knowledge. We just needed to point it at AI.

Our R&D DNA — built at CERN, sharpened across a decade of industrial delivery — means we absorb new advances fast. In an era where everything shifts monthly.
