The operating context
Naturgy operates combined-cycle power plants in Spain, where operational continuity, reliable plant start/stop sequences, and early detection of operating issues are essential. At its multi power plant Control Center near Valencia, Naturgy supervises 17 gas turbine units across 11 sites.
IO’s role
IO is connected to Naturgy's existing plant operations systems, including SCADA, adding an AI-based operational layer above the tools already used by operators. During operation, IO continuously assesses plant context, follows evolving conditions, supports procedures and complex operating phases, and helps anticipate situations that may require attention before they become operational problems.
The value
The value of IO in this environment is not only access to connected plant data, but progressive operational learning: every interaction helps capture how Naturgy's teams reason, decide, and act in real situations, including the non-documented reality of day-to-day operations. Operators remain responsible for operations, while selected actions can be delegated to IO under precise operational rules when appropriate.
